UEFA League: Arsenal 0-2 Barcelona | Messi guns down Arsenal, Juve hold Bayern

Lionel Messi scored twice as holders Barcelona beat Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Emirates Stadium.
Despite some resolute Arsenal defending, the Barcelona captain proved to be the difference for the La Liga leaders as he scored his first goal past Petr Cech to break the deadlock in the 71st minute.
He doubled his side’s advantage from the spot 13 minutes later after being brought down by substitute Mathieu Flamini in what was his first real involvement in the game.

It leaves Arsene Wenger’s side a mountain to climb in the second leg at the Nou Camp in three weeks’ time as they look to qualify for the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010, while Barcelona stay on course to become the first side to defend the trophy in the Champions League era, reports Sky News.

And in Italy, Juventus produced a remarkable second-half fightback against Bayern Munich to give themselves hope going into the Champions League last 16 second leg.
The Bundesliga leaders overwhelmed their Serie A counterparts in the first half, and took the lead when Thomas Muller slotted in before Arjen Robben curled in the second. Juve pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute when Paulo Dybala tucked home.
The comeback was complete when Stefano Stuaro poked in from close range.
