Tall and gracious Tokunbo Odedina Casson is an actress-cum-model. The proud mother of two who is married to a Briton, in this interview with www.angeladaviesblog.blogspot.com, discloses that her fashion statement is elegant.

Are you married?

Yes, I am married with two children. My husband is a British and he is based in the United Kingdom. We travel over there to see him from time to time.

Aside from acting and modelling, what else do you do?

I am also into event and artiste management.

Define your fashion statement

I just love looking elegant.

What is that fashion item you cannot do without as a woman?

That would be my powder because it puts the desired finishing touch to my make-up.

What is that clothing item you can never be caught in at any time or place?

I can never be caught wearing anything too transparent. What I mean is a transparent outfit without lining underneath that will reveal my underwear. What aspect of modelling do you do? I do runway, television commercials and photography. However, the runway is my favourite. My best runway event was the ‘Bodies and Beads’ runway show which held in the United Kingdom. It is my favourite because the cloth I modelled that day was bought after the show and the designer was so happy that she had to increase my pay. She also gave me a dress for free.

As a model, have you encountered any sexual harassment before or after a show?

Yes, I have been harassed. I still remember this particular one. After a fashion show in the United Kingdom, we were taken to an after party at a night club. I was wearing a mini skirt and as I entered the club, a white boy just smacked my ass. I was going to react but my agent intervened. He begged me to let go and not make any trouble. My agent later went to warn him.

How do you love to dress?

I always dress fit for the occasion and I love African prints a lot. Most of my casual outfits are designed with African print in different designs and colours. If it is a red, green or yellow carpet event, I wear an evening outfit and if it is an African event, I also dress African. How I dress basically depends on the event. If you are to flaunt any part of your body, where would that be? That will be my tummy and boobs. I have got a flat tummy and fantastic boobs. I wear clothes that would reveal my cleavage just a little. To flaunt my tummy, I put on a pair of jean and tops that are always a bit short. How do you love to carry your hair? I carry my hair long most of the time. I love fixing and when I want to look African, I go on braids even though I don’t braid often.

Do you love accessories?

Yes, I do because they are on vogue and I can easily match up different kinds of accessories to go with what I am wearing.

What is your greatest fear in life?

My greatest fear in life is dying before my time. I always pray to God to give me long life because I have two kids and I will like to grow old with them. I will also like to see my grandchildren, so I am always praying for long life. When you hear about divorce stories of your colleagues in the industry, how do you feel? I feel sad because nobody is perfect. The unfortunate thing is that when the news breaks, people always say that it is the woman that is at fault. It is not right. It could be the fault of any of the couple. The truth is that I always feel bad, especially when it is published in the newspapers.

What do you do to safeguard your own marriage?

After God, I will say trust is the next bedrock of my marriage. My husband is British; this makes it even easier because we trust each other so much. When there is no trust in a relationship, that is when you believe whatever you hear about your partner. He is an IT person, so we are even world apart in terms of what we both do. He knew my job before we got married and he has always supported me. There is no way you will go and tell my husband that ‘I saw your wife with a man or one artiste’, that he will feel bad or jealous. He will tell you, ‘O I know’, even if he does not know because of the trust between us. If you trust your wife, there is nothing anybody will come and tell you that would move you.

What is your philosophy of life?

Just be true to yourself no matter what anybody says about you. Be focused and be true to yourself

How was growing up for you?

Growing up was quite exciting. I will say from year one to 10 was quite exciting because my parents were still together and it was really fun. But when I got to the age of 15, it wasn’t so anymore because of the separation.
