Thursday Update On Gangaa, Nov 1, 2018

Gangaa is playing with pebbles. Niranjan and Madhvi come there. He too sits down on the floor beside her and asks how was her fast?. She tells him that it isn’t a tough task to keep fast. He asks her if she has kept fast earlier as well. She shakes her head and says her father used to say that fasts and prayer are mostly done by elderly and it is a feast for a poor person when he is able to eat something and it is a fast when his plate is empty.
Niranjan is proud of her and says her father was right. It is a fast when a person stays hungry even if he has everything. He adds on that rich people keep fast to go to heaven while poor people are compelled to stay hungry to sustain themselves. He leaves. Madhvi asks Gangaa if she understand anything that Niranjan had said. Gangaa says she understand a little and they smile. Gangaa adds that Niranjan's voice is just like honey and whatever he say will be sweet and nice only. She further says she was staring at him continuously while he was talking. His eyes shine like stars and her father used to say that the eyes of truthful persons shine brightly. Madhvi is impressed with Gangaa honesty and braveness. Gangaa remembers something and runs upstairs.

Ganga is folding clothes when Sagar comes there and says he want to say something. He fumbles, wondering how to say it. He gets an idea and takes her to where the wheat has been spread. He writes down the word sorry but she cannot read it though and asks him to tell her what he have written. Sagar is in a fix. She tells him to let it be that she know he is fooling her. She turns to go when he gathers courage and says sorry to her. She doesn’t know what it means. She mistakes it for saree and he laughs hearing her explanation but then explains the right meaning to her. She tells him that she doesn’t want sorry. He asks her what she wants then.

Sudha is venting out her anger by washing the clothes. Pishi Ma observes her keenly and says Gangaa was not wrong and one should not be this much short tempered. She asks Sudha what was the need for her to get into an argument with her?. Sudha replies that it is Gangaa who always engages in a verbal duel and she always makes her feel as if they are lower than her in some sense or other. Sudha adds that Gangaa overlooks their years old penance as if she is the only one who is smart amongst all of them and she don’t know what happiness she gets by troubling them. She honestly have no answer to any of her questions or any of her words and this is why she lose her cool. She sees Gangaa and she is more hyper to see Gangaa standing there. Sudha leaves the clothes and walks up to where Gangaa is standing asking what she is doing there?. Gangaa reply her that she have come here to collect her saree and jewellery of her wedding. Sudha repeats that they are of no use to her and asks what Gangaa will do with that?. Sagar calls out for Sudha aunt and tells her that it is none of her concern and Gangaa can do anything with her stuff. He request her to give them back to her. Sudha is surprised that Sagar is taking Gangaa’s side. Pulkit too walks inside in their support pleading to return Gangaa’s stuff to her. Sudha sticks to her point and Pulkit says the same lines for her. Sudha is taken aback. Gangaa yet again asks for her saree and jewellery which her father had bought them for her. Sudha agrees to give them back to her as they widows anyways don’t need any of it. The kids get happy. Sudha gets Gangaa’s stuff, telling her to take it, that she too will see what she will do with it. Gangaa checks all the items and is content. She too tells Sudha to watch out for sure. Pulkit and Sagar smile. All the three kids leave. Sudha looks hurt as Gangaa with the help of Pulkit and Sagar takes back the Saree and jewellery from her.

Gangaa happily watches her jewellery. She recalls the day of her farewell when she was really happy wearing all of those jewels. Pulkit tells her to come home first that her stuff will stay with her only and she can look at them later. Gangaa ties the potli around her waist just like her father had taught her to. Pulkit packs the rest of her stuff and gives it to her. The trios head home.

That same day, the female maid is massaging Amma's feet and as Maharaj is watering the plants, he advises her against keeping such kind of tough fasts. Amma refuses to give up the fast which she has been keeping for years just because she is getting old and asks how will she face the Lord when shel die?. The maid is surprised at the fact that Gangaa could keep such a tough fast and admit that she is clever. Maharaj talks in Gangaa’s favour and Amma nods in agreement and says it is good for her only if she learns to follow all the other rules of how the widows should live their lives. Amma adds that Gangaa is very naughty but she never listens to her. Madhvi says that she isn’t naughty but upfront and that she always lives by her words. Amma talks about how they shouldn’t pamper such girls too much or they will do whatever they will feel like.

Sudha calls Amma and informs her everything to her. Amma looks shocked and angry by the time she ends the call, she asks where that girl is?. She also asks where Sagar and Pulkit are and further asks Madhvi if she have any idea where they are?

Meanwhile, the kids are enjoying kulfi. Sagar asks Gangaa if she is happy now and also asks if she is still angry with him?. Gangaa teases him by saying that she will think and then tell him. Sagar is confused. Pulkit tells him to think what they will tell Daadi as Sudha aunt must have called her by now and their grandma will be angry with them. He tells his brother to think how they will face her. Sagar nods and the kids get into thinking mode.

Amma paces as she waits for the kids and vow to punish Gangaa that she has crossed her limits and she is not going to take it easy with her. Madhvi adds that the kids make mistake and Gangaa too is a little girl. Just then, Raghav comes there and greets everyone but he notices the tensed expressions on Amma's face. Niranjan too comes there, all set to leave for court. He talks to Raghav about one of their client. They turn to go when Niranjan notices everyone’s mood and asks if there is some problem again?. Amma dismisses it and says it is a household matter and they women will handle it and that he anyways have to think of a lot many things. Niranjan and Madhvi look at each other.
The kids reach outside their house very carefully. They are scared of Amma’s anger. Sagar gets an idea and says their grandma only gives up when their father says something. He will save them from her. Pulkit and Gangaa agree that he ( Niranjan ) always supports honest people. Gangaa wonders what will happen if Amma finds out that they all are heading directly to Niranjan’s room. Sagar assures her that they both are with her.

Niranjan looks at Madhvi for some clue but Amma tells him to go to work. He leaves. The female maid, Maharaj and Madhvi too head to their tasks. The kids notice Niranjan leaving in his car and are dejected. They wonder how they will tackle Amma now. Pulkit says they have to be strong now. Plus they haven’t done anything wrong and they will tell her the truth. They enter inside and sees that the corridor is empty so they think that their grandma maybe in her room. They think of going upstairs when Amma calls out for them. They all turn to face her when she question where they are coming from?. She signals Gangaa to come closer. Gangaa walks towards her.

Gangaa walks towards Amma when she asks her to. Madhvi questions the kids where they disappear to without telling anyone as their grandma was so worried about them. Amma interrupts her and warn Madhvi not to scold her grandsons and Gangaa is to be blamed as she took them with her?. She asks Gangaa where she go to and why?. She later asks what’s in her bag that she is hiding behind her back?. Amma and Ganga fight to take or keep the bag and the saree and the jewellery fall on the floor in the process. Everyone is taken aback to see all that. The female maid walks forward to pick them up but Gangaa clearly tells her to stay away. Amma deduces that they all belong to Gangaa and asks if this is her wedding’s saree?. Gangaa nods and then says her father had brought it for her. Sagar tells them how Sudha aunt had forcefully kept them with her and they had gone there to bring that only. Sagar again asks why will Sudha aunt keep something with her that doesn’t even belong to her?. Amma signals him to wait and stop.

She sits down with Gangaa on the floor and asks if she go to Ashram to bring her clothes and jewellery?. She asks Gangaa what was the need for her to go there and she could have told her. She would have called them up and hee belongings would have been here in no time. She compliment that they are really nice and asks what will she do with them?. She again asks Gangaa if she will wear them?. Gangaa accepts it that she loves red saree, bangles and jewellery and that her father had brought them for her with love but Sudha aunt snatched them all from her. Amma agrees to let her wear it if she doesn’t like white saree. The female maid is shocked but Amma stops her form interrupting them. She turns to Gangaa again that she got married once and she must know that one cannot wear the clothes just like that. She tells Pulkit to call a rickshaw that they are going to the temple. Madhvi is tensed. She tries to ask Amma about it but gets no reply. Amma and Gangaa leave in the rickshaw. Everyone is concerned for Gangaa.

The duo reach the temple. Gangaa too wants to know why they have come to the temple. Amma gives no reply and they go inside. Gangaa is mesmerised seeing Ma’s idol and says they didn't get any flowers or Prasad. She plead with Amma to tell her now what they are doing in the temple. Amma asks her if she knows who this Goddess is. Gangaa nods. She smiles as she notices her lovely appearance and her attire. Amma who tries to explain the life of a widow to Gangaa, keeps indicating to her that Ma is married but Gangaa is not ready without vermilion and asks her to tell her what’s the point in dressing up incompletely?. She adds on that Gangaa will have to have vermilion in her forehead if she really want to dress up properly. Amma jrequests the priest to give her a little vermilion for the girl. The priest is offended after noticing Gangaa as a widow. Gangaa questions him about it that why can’t she have Ma’s vermilion?. He explains that it is a sin for a widow to dress up, put vermilion in her forehead, etc. And that Ma’s vermilion cannot be put on a widow’s forehead. Gangaa reasons that the vermilion belongs to Devi Ma, and asks who is he to say no?. She claims her father used to say that everyone has a right on God’s Prasad. A few ladies there feel Gangaa is too arrogant and they would have taught her a lesson if she was from their family. Amma nd Ganga look at each other.

Amma explains the facts to her that God accepts everyone but a widow is never allowed to put Devi Ma’s vermilion in her forehead as this is the punishment of widows and she ( Gangaa) is no different, but Gangaa refuses to accept what is said and asks why she will punish her. She further tells Amma that she didn't become a widow by her will. Amma says it is as per everyone’s destiny and she must learn to accept it as no one can fight with their destiny. Gangaa sadly looks at her and again refuses to accept it. She tells Amma that her father used to say that theor fate is in their hands. Everyone there is stunned by her bold words. Amma tells Gangaa to show her her destiny and that they cannot change what had been written in their destiny. Amma adds that they are widows and they have to live like that only. An adamant Gangaa says that isn’t so. Amma tells her that her fater was wrong and not just in her hands but it is also written on her forehead that she is a widow. Gangaa declines. She rubs her forehead vigorously so she can erase that, if in case it is indeed there.

Amma insists that she cannot erase what has been written for her and she won't be able to do that in this birth atleast. The priest too calmly tells the same to her. He gives her flowers and Prasad and further adds that she cannot get vermilion. Amma suggests Gangaa to take what she is getting and to think it to be her destiny and accept it that whatever happened with her happened as per Devi Ma’s wish. Gangaa still refuses to accept it as it is not Devi Ma who has said that to her and it was only the priest. Amma is irked and says herself, the priest and everyone else in the world is good for nothing. And that it is just Gangaa and her father who know everything. Gangaa agrees and says all mother loves her kids so much, she makes her kids wear new clothes, get all dressed up then why would this mother tell her kids to wear white clothes?. Amma and everyone look at her in amazement and they are all speechlessly.
