I am Judith by name. I got married recently to my adorable husband, Jack, after two years of blissful courtship. I knew I loved him but I never thought I would betray him with another man - Felix whom I dated some seven years ago.
I met Jack one Tuesday afternoon on my way from a job interview. It rained heavily and everyone was careful not to be splashed dirty water. As I took my time to stroll down to the bus-stop, muddy water was splashed all over my body. I was so furious that I started abusing the driver of the vehicle but to my greatest surprise, he stopped the car, walked up to me and apologised repeatedly.
“I am so sorry lady; I did not notice the stagnant water in time. I am truly sorry,” I looked at him and saw the sincerity in his apology, and told him to forget about it. “Is there anything I can do to show you that I am truly sorry? I can take you to a boutique if you don’t mind,” he pleaded. “If you really want to show you are sorry, then, please take me home,” I replied. Without wasting any more time, he drove straight to my house and promised to check on me that weekend because he was on call. And truly, he came to visit me that weekend.
We became friends but he wanted more - an intimate relationship. I told him I was not ready for one. Jack waited for about a year before he started dating properly. I told him not to rush me into marriage. I wanted to get a job and earn some money before settling down. I do not want to depend on him, although he would not mind. Four months later I got a job in the bank which he helped to facilitate. Jack loved seeing me happy, so he did all he could to ensure that I was always happy. Two years later, when I knew I was ready to settle down, I told him, and we started making our wedding arrangements.
About a month to our wedding, Jack asked me where I would like us to spend our honeymoon. I told him at either Eko Hotel and Suites or Obudu Cattle Ranch. Jack just nodded and said nothing again about an ideal honeymoon place until when we were having the couple dance at our wedding reception.
“Sweetheart, our hotel room at Eko Hotel and Suites for one week is ready and waiting for our arrival. I hope you are happy,” he whispered into my ears. “Sure, I am. Thank you sweetheart,” I said. Immediately the reception was over, Jack and I changed into casual clothes and drove off since our bags were already packed and kept in Jack’s car boot.
Our first night was fun-filled and exciting. I enjoyed every moment with my husband, Jack. There was never a dull moment with Jack because he has a very funny sense of humour. He made me laugh throughout the evening. I was made to feel loved and special. “I want to spoil you, baby. I love you very much. I want you to enjoy every moment of this one week,” he said. “Yea, baby I love you too,” I told him.
On our second day, we were indoors all day so I decided to go sit by the pool side and admire those swimming since I don’t know how to swim. In fact, I am always scared of being inside the water. Jack was so engrossed in a movie and so refused to go with me and I respected his decision. “Take care of yourself, baby. See you later,” he said. While I was there quietly drinking my glass of chilled Champman, I heard my name behind me. When I turned to see who it was, O my God, it was Felix. He was looking so handsome and good-looking.
Felix is my first love. I met him when I was 21 years old and he was the first man I ever knew. I met him at an eatery. While trying to get some food and a bottle of water for myself, my pursue fell and he helped me pick it up since he was standing close to me. We ended up eating on the same table and became attracted to each other almost immediately. We were so much in love and he spoilt me with gifts.
However, two years later he had to travel out of the country. Before he travelled, we promised each other we would get married immediately he returned since he said he would only be away for about a year and a half. “Judith, I will only be away for about a year and a half. But just know that we will get married immediately I come back. Please, I want you to wait for me,” he pleaded. “Felix, I will wait for you, just make sure we communicate; that is all I ask for,” I pleaded.
To be concluded next week.
