Winners at ZAFAA Awards 2011



Ini Edo, Winner Best Actress Indigenous
The 2011 edition of ZAFAA Awards, was held in London, on Friday, October 21, 2011.

The ZAFAA Awards was established to reward the efforts of film practioners, towards the promotion of the African film industry.


Several distinguished actors were awarded  in various roles. Some of them include Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, Olu Jacobs and Kenneth  Okonkwo.

A posthumous award was also given to the late Sam Loco Efe, who died on August 7, 2011. The film, The Mirror Boy, won six of the 31 awards, which were given out.

Below is the list of winners at this years ZAFAA Awards.

  6. WINNER BEST COMEDY ACTOR: Ime-Bishop Umoh (Okon Lagos, Nigeria)
  7. WINNER BEST COMEDY ACTRESS: Vanessa Koko  (Okon Lagos, Nigeria)
  8. WINNER BEST UPCOMING (MALE): Nchifor Valery (Obssession, Cameroon)
  9. WINNER BEST UPCOMING( FEMALE): Demetria (Thorns, Zimbabwe)
  10. WINNER BEST CHILD ACT (MALE): Edward Kagutuzi (The Mirror Boy, UK)
  11. WINNER BEST CHILD ACT (FEMALE): Promise Nsima (From Within, Nigeria)
  12. LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Olu Jacobs
  13. POST HUMOUS AWARD: Sam Loco Efe
  14. WINNER BEST FILM: Obi Emelonye (Mirror Boy, UK)
  15. WINNER BEST COMEDY FILM: Okon Lagos (Nigeria)
  16. WINNER BEST CULTURAL EXPRESSION: Bose Alao Omotoyosi (Olasubomi, Nigeria)
  17. WINNER BEST DIRECTOR:  Frank Raja (Somewhere In Africa, Ghana)
  18. WINNER BEST DIRECTOR (INDIGENOUS): Femi Fadeyi (Osu Kesan, Nigeria)
  19. WINNER BEST PRODUCER: Emem Isong (Memories Of My Heart, Nigeria)
  20. WINNER BEST PRODUCER ( INDIGENOUS):  Uduak Oguamanam (Edikan, Nigeria)
  21. WINNER BEST STORY: Pascal Amanfo (Somewhere In Africa, Ghana)
  22. WINNER BEST SCREENPLAY: Emeka Amakeze (The Maidens, Nigeria)
  23. WINNER BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: The Mirror Boy (UK)
  24. WINNER BEST FILM EDITING: Andrew Webber/Andrew Linton (The Mirror Boy, UK)
  25. WINNER BEST SOUND EDITING: Chucks (Somewhere In Africa, Ghana)
