Goldie Harvey whose real name is Oluwabimpe Susan is an artiste to reckon with any day. Her stage presence can best be described as energetic. She is also a fashionista of repute. In this interview she spoke about her style and passion, music.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am from Ikole in Ekiti state. I am the first born of my parents. My upbringing was very strict and religious. I wasn’t allowed to have friends, or attend parties. It was either school or church. I attended Green springs Montessori primary school, Saint John’s College and I have a degree in Business Management from the University Of Sunderland, UK. I am currently following my dream and passion of being a world renowned performing pop artiste. I am signed to kennis music.
What is it about your childhood that makes you happy?
Hmmm... The innocence I think; the lack of worry. Knowing that I would always eat, that there will always be a bed to sleep on, without having to think twice about it. Unlike now, where I have to think about everything. I even have to think about what I think about before I think about it. Sigh... It’s so stressful being an adult!!! The worries enh..? No get part two.
What is your style? Define it.
I like to be comfortable. Comfort is very key in my style choices. I also like to be playful. Extreme seriousness gives me constipation. Add a little bit of sass, a sprinkle of “in your face attitude” and you got my style down to a T.
What makes your day?
What makes my day is when I am able to put a smile on someone’s face. When I am able to accomplish all I set out to do in one day. This really makes me happy.
How do you handle your male fans? How do you know when to draw the line?
My male fans are always very sweet and polite. I have never had any problems dealing with them.
What is your greatest fear in life?
My greatest fear in life is the fear of not being able to afford basic amenities; of not being able to fend for myself or my family. The thought of it self is bringing tears to my eyes.
What is that fashion item you cannot do without as a woman?
I love my shoes. Shoes are very important; they always add the last finishing touch to any outfit.

What is the misconception people have about you?
If there is a misconception, then, I am not really bothered about it.
I believe you pray. What do you tell God when praying?
I pray He allows me reach my full potential as a human being and fulfil a destiny only He knows and has in store for me.
What part of your body can you flaunt and why?
Hahaha... My arms, I think they are toned and firm.
What is your best colour?
Green is a very powerful colour; though I would not want to see it on my walls. I have red and white on my bedroom walls, I love wearing different shades of black and gold.
What is your favourite perfume?
Chanel number 5.
How do you relax?
I like to sit down quietly, by myself most times and just think. Or I watch television documentaries. Lately though, I have gone back to playing Dr Mario on Nintendo, it takes my mind off most worries.
Do you make up? If you do, how do you like it?
Light make up is always best. Though I sometimes tend to put a little bit more on, depending on the event and what I am trying to portray at the time.
How do you keep fit?
I exercise three nights a week with a personal trainer/choreographer.
What kind of shoes do you love wearing?
I love very high heeled shoes. I wear flats too, but very rarely.
Are you a fashion freak?
No, I am not really a fashion freak. I don’t follow trends. I love to look good, but I won’t go out of my way to buy everything I see just because it is in “vogue”.
Tell us about your beauty routine
In the morning, I exfoliate, do moisturising wash, apply face cream, use foundation, rub powder and then use bronzer. At night, I use facial wipes and/or moisturising wash, use toner and apply night cream.
Describe yourself on and off stage.
On stage, I am physically portraying the message of a song, so I have to be flamboyant, energetic, and very expressive with my fashion as well as my delivery. Off stage, I like to be very quiet, think and plan my immediate future, write songs, hang out at home with close confidants and share experiences.
