I am cool in jeans -Nnena

Pretty actress, Yinka Olukunga’s performance in ‘Nnena’, a Wale Adenuga’s production in 2008, has helped her gain so much popularity, especially among children. The ‘Nnena and Friends’ star spoke with us.

Who is the real Nnena?

My name is Olayinka Olukunga. I am from Lagos State and I  played the role of Nnena in Wale Adenuga’s production entitled Nnena in 2008 and actually that was my first job.

How far has that role taken you?

God has actually used that role to elevate me. It has actually taken me to places I never imagined. People just love me. Seriously, I can’t explain it. It has been wonderful.

What makes your day?

It depends, if I am able to achieve everything I have planned for that day, I am good. And then when I see my fans and they scream ‘Nnena, Nnena we love you’, it makes me happy and excited.

How do you handle your male fans?

Basically when they see me they just say hello and I also say hello to them. That is just about it.

What is that misconception you think people have about you?

Hmmm, they probably would judge me at face value and think I am proud or I don’t talk, that I probably just like keeping to myself.

So what is style to you?

It is simplicity. Whatever looks good on me is what I wear.

What is that fashion item you cannot do without as a woman?

That is a very big question because really when it comes to fashion, I am just too simple. There is actually nothing I can’t do without. Once I wear my jeans, I just put whatever I need in my pockets, off I go.

That means you are a lover of jeans?

Yes that is true because when I wear a pair of jeans, I get to move around, I can do anything I want to do. I don’t have to get conscious that my legs are showing, am I sitting down properly or am I doing this or that properly. I am just cool in jeans.

What is that part of your body that can you show off?

I love to flaunt my face because it is beautiful, and my hair too.

How do you love to carry your hair?

Most times I pack it. Sometimes I drop it. But most times, I do pony tail.

Describe yourself in three words

 I am a woman of great weight, intelligence and of great disposition.

Philosophy of life

I have three basic philosophies. First, a moving train cannot be stopped. Secondly, it is essential to be important but it is more important for you to be nice to people. Thirdly, with God all things are possible.

What kind of shoes do you love to wear?

Flat shoes, normal slippers and heels as long as it looks nice and lovely on me.

Best signature perfume

I love Bvlgari. Basically the Rose Essentielle, it is mild. It just gives you this beautiful smell.

What is your best colour?

I love pink. I am a pink freak maybe because I love kids.

I believe you pray. What do you tell God when you pray?

O God my father you have given me this fame, you have given me this publicity and I know you still have more for me; Lord just give me the grace to manage this and do it properly. I don’t want to step on toes.

What is your beauty routine like?

At night, I wash off the makeup, have my bath and moisturise my body.

What kind of makeup do you wear?

Very light makeup because I am a very natural person.

How do you relax?

Hmmm… I listen to music, read novels and sing. When I am down and I am not feeling too good, I try to sing even if my voice is not too good.

How do you keep fit?

I do exercises but not much.

What is your greatest fear in life?

As a role model to kids, I won’t want to do anything to mislead them. So, I try to be very careful. I don’t want to be the cause of anybody’s downfall, basically children. I want to lead them aright.

What is it about your childhood that makes you happy?

I have beautiful parents, they actually treat me like a special girl. I am the first girl. We are two girls, two boys.
