Veteran Bollywood Actor, Shashi Kapoor Dies At 79

Veteran Bollywood actor, Shashi Kapoor, who was one of the finest actors of his generation, passed on Monday, December 4 after prolonged illness associated with age-related illnesses at the age of 79.

His nephew, actor Randhir Kapoor (Kareena Kapoor Khan’s father) told news agency that Kapoor had been suffering from kidney problems and had been undergoing dialysis. The actor was a member of the Kapoor dynasty, which has been a dominating force in the Hindi film industry for decades. The actor had a remarkable bonding with fellow veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan, with whom he worked in around 12 films.

Shashi Kapoor was married to actress Jennifer Kendal, who died of cancer in 1984, and is survived by his sons Karan and Kunal, alongside daughter Sanjana. He started his career as a child and eventually featured in more than 200 films. He won several national film awards and was awarded the Padma Bhushan civilian honour by the Indian government in 2011.

Shashi Kapoor’s versatility could be seen in his movies as well as in theatre, which he promoted with great passion. His brilliant acting will be remembered for generations to come.
