Puerto Rican actor and television personality,
Carlos Ponce, is one individual who interprets his roles beautifully
well. Hate or love him for his roles, you will agree that Ponce is good at what
he does.
Ponce began his acting
career participating in Spanish language soap operas for Televista and
Telemundo. Ponce continued to expand his acting career by participating in
various American television series. He did not limit himself solely to a career
in television.
Ponce, who is also a singer
and composer, is also active in the American movie industry as a character
actor.
Before he began acting,
he attended South Miami High School in Miami, Florida, where he was active in
the drama department's annual shows. He graduated in 1990.
As a child, Ponce actively participated
in his school's plays and at home he would often put on a show for the family
by singing the latest tunes. Nicknamed
"Carlitos", in Puerto Rico, Ponce started to appear in television
commercials at the age of six. He attended high school in Humacao and was a
member of the school's drama club.
When his family moved to Miami, Florida,
Ponce continued to participate in his school's productions at South Miami
Senior High. He was named the best student actor of the southern region of the
United States.
He hosted
a show called Hablando (Talking) for television station
Univision, his first serious television debut and after his debut he gave up
his university studies. When the show ended, he got his first role in a soap
opera for Televisa, Guadalupe. He
participated in another soap opera for Televisa, Sentimientos Ajenos,
in which he played the main character. Ponce also sang the theme song for the
production.
As a singer and composer, Ponce released
his first album titled Carlos Ponce, and it included three of his own
compositions. The album reached the #1 spot in the Latin Billboards for nine weeks in the
Hispanic Community of the United States. It also reached the #1 spot in Central
America and South America. He was awarded a Double Platinum Award for the sales
which his album generated.
He has featured
in telenovelas like; Perro Amor (Cruel love), Santa Diabla, Silvana Sin Lana (Manuel & Silvana) and tv series
like Devious Maids. Some films he has
starred in are Single in South Beach,
Couples Retreat, Spy and comedy films Rio and
Just My Luck amongst others.
i did see him in some of the movies i recently watched and i must say that i was quite impressed with his work. the way he induldges into his charecter is amazing
