ICPC nabs 17 fake Corpers in Abuja

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on Thursday arrested 17 fake members of the National Youth Service Corps in the Federal Capital Territory according to the Commission’s spokesman, Folu Olamiti.

Olamiti stated that the arrests were made at Kubwa on Thursday evening while they were posing and taking pictures outside the camp during the passing out ceremonies. ICPC operatives stormed the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa based on intelligence reports and effected the arrest of the suspects made up of 8 females and 9 males.
Preliminary investigation showed that 15 of the fake corpers claimed to have enrolled in degree courses run by consultancy services as follows: Six from University of Calabar, six from University of Jos,  one from Ebonyi State University, one from Federal University of Technology, Owerri  and one from Crown Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti.

One of the other two fake corpers never attended any university but said she was desirous of getting a Discharge Certificate. The other, a young man, impersonated his sister, a genuine Corp Member currently receiving medical treatment abroad, in order to collect her Discharge Certificate.
