Lagos AGN declares Don Pedro Aganbi New Chairman

Don Pedro Aganbi taking oath of office

Less than a month after the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Fiberisima Ibinabo was accused to have conspired to rig the elections of the Guild`s Lagos Chapter in favour of Victor Osuagwu, the former Chairman of the Lagos Guild, Emeka Rising Ibe in response to the decision of the chapter declared the supposed winner of that election, Don Pedro Aganbi the new head in Lagos.

This came after members had passed a motion and unanimously accepted and adopted Don Pedro as the real winner of that election. With this, the lingering crisis in AGN both at the National and Local level may never come to an end as there now exist two factions in Lagos.
The swearing in ceremony of Don Pedro Aganbi was done last week Thursday, June 27 at the Hallie Salliesa Hotel, Aguda Surulere.  The ceremony also witnessed the elections and swearing of Exco members, including a new Vice Chairman, Doris Chima and Tunde Talabi as the State PRO.
Moreover the large turnout of members at the event buttresses the fact that Emeka Rising still has a hold on the Lagos AGN. The over filled hall had in attendance all former Exco members and virtually every upcoming actor that make the grass root of the guild.
Speaking to newsmen after the state general meeting, the former Chairman Emeka Rising said; "This is Victory for the people of AGN Lagos Chapter. Don Pedro Aganbi clearly won that election with Video evidence and number of votes counted but Ibinabo and her co-travelers said he won’t get his mandate because they want an Igbo man in Lagos. But they should be told that sovereignty belongs to the people. Victor cannot win election in Lagos even if this election is conducted 20 times over. He does not have the popularity and intellectual capacity to govern this guild. I have given my blessings to Don Pedro Aganbi who was also the former PRO as the new chairman of AGN Lagos because the members love him and voted for him. I urge everyone to support him and his team because he will deliver.”
But in a swift reaction, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the AGN, Emma Ogugua via telephone conversation said that all aggrieved group should go to the petition panel if they have a case to present and whatever the panel decides will be obeyed by the BOT and National.
